Getting shooting is the key to improving your photography. shoot more and eliminate the things that stand in your way.

You might be getting in the way of your own photography. I know I was. I held myself back because I was so worried about putting confusing messaging on my website that I ended up not taking photos at all. Now, I’ve changed things. My website is accessible—not just for visitors, but for me. I’ve designed it so I can add content about anything without it confusing everything else.

Why do some images end up as black and white?

Deciding which pictures we edit in colour and which ones to make black and white is a choice I have pondered over for a long time. I was once asked why I choose black and white for some shots and not others and I didn't have a good answer.

Join me as I look through I few photos I from a recent party I shot. The party was very bright and colourful and I didn't make many pictures black and white but the ones I wanted to put by for future website or social media use were mainly the ones without colour. Which got me thinking. Why do I pick certain pictures? I also give you a bit of an overview of my thoughts when editing, what I like about certain pictures and where and when I apply masks.

Back on the horse

Now we can get moving, there is no Horse. I've spent a long time building this website and now i will use it.

A lot has changed over the last few months which is the result of a lot of thought and development. I wanted to bring other areas of my work into my website and show them off to the wider world. I wanted to post about photography trips I have taken, I wanted to offer workshops and share other projects I've been working on but I didn't want it to be confusing. I needed to restructure everything so I could provide shoots in different areas of photography. This is some of my journey.
